The following dog is available for adoption from Tall Tails Beagle Rescue in Freeport. The group will be at the Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland, 449 Stroudwater St., Westbrook, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday for the Spring Fling at the shelter, which is celebrating its 100th birthday.

Please stop by, visit www.talltailsbeaglerescue.petfinder.org or call 797-5392. The Animal Refuge League can be contacted at 854-9771 or www.arlgp.org.

Calvin is a neutered male tricolor beagle, about a year old. We are calling him a “tornado dog” because he came to Tall Tails Beagle Rescue from the Shelby Humane Society in Columbiana, Ala. It partnered with the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society in Lewiston to help get some of the animals out.

The Lewiston shelter contacted Tall Tails. Calvin is a very sweet, small beagle. He can be a little wary at first but warms up and is an affectionate guy. His paperwork says he came from a breeder who said he wasn’t going to be a good hunter so they took him to the shelter.

ANIMAL WELFARE SOCIETY

The Animal Welfare Society, West Kennebunk, waives the adoption fee for adult cats. With kitten season coming, now is a great time to adopt a cat 6 months or older. Animal Welfare Society adoptions include vaccines, feline leukemia testing, spay or neuter surgery, a free post-adoption health exam certificate, a carry-home box, plus a collar and tag.

Loki, an 8-year old Bengal cat, is a sweet little fellow, nowhere near as wild as his name implies. He is, however, very vocal. For information on adopting Loki, call 985-3244 or visit www.animalwelfaresociety.org.
