SOUTH PORTLAND — Police are investigating reports of a man making inappropriate comments, and in one case offering a ride in his car, to female middle school students at the Wainwright Recreational complex off Highland Avenue.

Lt. Frank Clark said two reports were made in the past two weeks about an unidentified adult male driving an older model blue car.

In the first incident, the man approached two girls who were walking together, and he made suggestive comments to them. In the second incident, the man drove up beside a girl walking alone and offered her a ride home.

“Although no crime appears to have been committed at this point, due to the suspicious circumstances of these incidents, the police department is investigating and seeking any information from the public that may help in identifying this subject in order to determine his intentions,” Clark said in a media release this morning.

“The male is only described as having dark, curly hair and a mustache, operating a beat up, old looking blue car,” Clark said.

The School Deparment has alerted parents and staff about the incidents.

Anyone with information for police should call 799-5511, extension 7448.
