The Maine Red Claws are apparently reaching high for their next head coach.

Yahoo!Sports is reporting that the NBA Development League team based in Portland is interested in talking to Bruce Pearl, recently fired as head coach at Tennessee.

The Red Claws confirmed that Pearl, a Boston native, has expressed interest in the position, which was vacated last Friday when Austin Ainge took a position with the Boston Celtics, and that the team is interested in talking to him.

Pearl, who won a Division II national championship with Southern Indiana, was at Tennessee for six years, where the Volunteers made six NCAA tournament appearances.
