BIDDEFORD — Biddeford police have charged two men with burglary following the theft of copper and other metals from a vacant building.

Burglars have broken into several vacant buildings in recent months where copper pipe, brass fittings and wiring have been stolen. Today, a witness reported seeing two men enter the basement of a vacant building at 20 Pike St. and then leaving in an older model, blue Ford Crown Victoria.

Police found a door kicked in and piping missing. Police contacted a metal dealer in Arundel who said men in a car matching that description had just left and that its occupants had sold pipe, fittings and wire.

Police said they pulled the car over on its way into Biddeford and arrested two men. Police charged Jonathan D. Clark, 27, of Pike Street and Jeremy V. Vincent, 32, of Old Orchard Beach with burglary, a felony.

Police have not charged the men in connection with other burglaries at this time, police said.
