PORTLAND — A new neighborhood byway project will be the topic at a meeting Tuesday night in Deering Center.

City officials and the Deering Center Neighborhood Association are co-hosting the meeting about the pilot project aimed at creating safer bike and pedestrian routes throughout the neighborhood.

The meeting will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Deering High School cafeteria at 370 Stevens Ave.

The Deering Center neighborhood was chosen as the location for the pilot project because of its central location and concerns about pedestrian and traffic safety.
