OAKLAND — No. 6 Cheverus scored the first six goals of the game and held on for a 10-8 victory over No. 3 Messalonskee in an Eastern A girls lacrosse quarterfinal Wednesday afternoon.
Messalonskee got within 6-5 in the second half, but a goal by Sarah LaQuerre sparked a 4-0 run by Cheverus to help the Stags regain control.
Freshman Elyse Caiazzo scored four goals in the first half for Cheverus. Maddie Kadnar had three goals for Messalonskee.
