Army Pfc. Nicholas J. Bryant, son of John and Donna Bryant of Westbrook, recently spent a month in the Mojave Desert at the National Training Center at Fort Irwin, Calif. Bryant is a combat medic with the 4th Heavy Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, Fort Bliss, Texas. He is a 2009 graduate of Westbrook High School.

Coast Guard Seaman James E. Earl, son of Elizabeth Earl of Sanford and James Earl of Waterboro, has graduated from the Coast Guard Recruit Training Center in Cape May, N.J. Earl is a 2008 graduate of Sanford High School.

Navy Seaman Recruit Phi V. Tran, son of Tam T. Tran and stepson of Israel Gonzalez of Biddeford and nephew of Tho T. Ngo of Portland, recently completed Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. Tran is a 2010 graduate of Biddeford High School.

Army Reserve Spec. Timothy R. Koster has been mobilized activated at Joint Base Dix-McGuire-Lakehurst, N.J., in preparation for deployment to serve in the Iraqi Theater of Operations. Koster is a member of the 362nd Mobile Public Affairs Detachment out of Londonderry, N.H. He is a public affairs specialist with four years of military service and is a 2004 graduate of Deering High School, Portland.

Army Reserve Sgt. Paul M. White and Army Reserve Spec. Mark D. Small are returning to the U.S. after a deployment to Iraq where they served in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation New Dawn. Both are regularly assigned to the 94th Military Police Company, based out of Saco.

White is a military police member with 11 years of service. His wife, Sara, is the daughter of Gregory Marston of South Portland. White graduated from Westbrook High School in 2001 and Southern Maine Community College, South Portland, in 2010.

Small is a military police member with four years of military service. He is the son of Paul and Sharon Coskery of Freeport and is a 2005 graduate of Freeport High School.

Michael H. Brown has been promoted to master sergeant in the Air Force. Brown is a standardization and training non commissioned officer assigned to the 319th Recruiting Squadron at Hanscom Air Force Base in Massachusetts. He is the son of Michael Brown Sr. of Gray. Brown graduated in 1996 from Gray-New Gloucester High School, Gray, and also received an associate of science degree in 2007 from the Community College of The Air Force, Maxwell Air Force Base, Ala. He has served in the military for 14 years.

Adam P. Edgerton has been commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Air Force after completing the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps program and graduating with a bachelor’s degree from Norwich University, Northfield, Vt. in 2011. Edgerton is regularly assigned to the Security Forces Squadron, based out of Minot Air Force Base, N.D. He is the son of Katherine Edgerton of Standish and Warren Smith of Greene. Edgerton graduated from Oxford Hills High School, South Paris, in 2007.

Air Force Reserve Airman Troy A. Knight graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. He is the son of Karen Knight of Portland and Albert Knight of Raymond.
