Burke won the Class A skimeister award after placing second in slalom, third in freestyle, fifth in giant slalom and eighth in classic for Hampden Academy at the state championship meet. What’s more, he became the first Maine skier in memory to qualify for both Alpine and Nordic competitions in the Eastern High School Championships.
BECCA BELL
Girls’ skiing
Yarmouth won the overall Class B state title in each of Bell’s four years, and nobody contributed more to the team’s success. A two-time skimeister in Class B and four-time Western Maine Conference skimeister, Bell placed among the top 10 in Class B in slalom, giant slalom, freestyle and classic. She was fourth in both slalom and classic.
