Two staff members from The Animal Welfare Society in West Kennebunk will head to Joplin, Missouri on Wednesday to help with animal recovery efforts after last month’s tornado.
Megan Arsenault from Sanford and Ben Prevatt from Kennebunk will be in Joplin for nine days.
The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) have been coordinating animal care efforts in Joplin. They contacted Steve Jacobsen, executive director of the Animal Welfare Society, for interested individuals.
Arsenault and Prevatt will be working with animals that are sick, injured and have been separated from their families.
