DEXTER — The Maine Medical Examiner’s Office says a man who shot his wife and two children before taking his own life killed them all with shotgun blasts, shooting two of them more than once.
A spokeswoman said today that autopsies indicate Steven Lake’s wife and daughter were shot at least twice in the head and chest; Lake and his son each were shot once in the head.
State police say Steven Lake killed his wife Amy Lake and their two children, 12-year-old Monica and 13-year-old Coty, in what’s described as a “despicable case of domestic violence.”
Steven Lake was under a court order to stay away after holding the family at gunpoint last year. He wasn’t permitted to have a gun. Police are trying to learn how he got the gun.
