Class on dovetailed drawer

Friends of Portland Public Library is holding a book sale Friday through Sunday at Catherine McAuley High School on Stevens Avenue.
The sale will be held from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
A preview for members of Friends of Portland Public Library will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday. New members are welcome. The $10 membership fee can be paid at the door or online at www.friendsofppl.org.

Vegan and beer festival
A local vegan group is teaming up with Whole Foods for a vegan cookout and beer tasting at noon Saturday at 2 Somerset St. A vegan festival will be held 1 to 4 p.m. with storewide samples of vegan foods.
Whole Foods employees will be in front of the store from noon to 3 p.m. grilling veggie burgers to raise money for Cultivating Community. A $5 donation will buy a grilled veggie burger or veggie dog, salad, chips, a soft drink and a cookie.
Samples of beer will be offered from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.
Solstice gong meditation
Dragonfly Taijiquan is hosting a gong meditation from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, the summer solstice, at its studio, 222 St. John St.
