SOUTH FREEPORT — Nat and Betsy Warren-White of South Freeport have arrived home after their 4½-year-long sailing trip around the world.

“It has been a lifelong dream of mine,” Nat said. “It was great.”

Nat said he has always loved the water, but Betsy hadn’t sailed much before the trip. She said it was fantastic, though, and she is so glad she did it.

The couple sailed away from the Harraseeket Yacht Club on Oct. 21, 2006, and returned to the same dock this morning at 10 a.m.

They were greeted by family, friends, colorful flags, and loud noisemakers.

Even though they won’t be living on their boat, the “Bahati,” Betsy and Nat plan on sailing it up the coast of Maine this summer.

“And at least I can always go sleep on her,” Nat remarked.
