PORTLAND — The first large cruise ship of the season is paying a visit to Portland.

The 990-foot Enchantment of the Seas is arriving at Maine’s largest port this afternoon carrying about 2,250 passengers. The Royal Caribbean International ship departs on Sunday afternoon, heading toward Bar Harbor for its next port call.

Fifty-nine cruise ships carrying more than 86,000 passengers are scheduled to stop in Portland this season.
