Foley’s Bakery reopened this week in a storefront in Monument Square, nine years after the bakery’s owners closed their Congress Street location.

Ed and Molly Foley of Gorham ran the original Foley’s from 1997 to 2002, before closing shop and getting jobs that let them focus on raising their then-teenage boys.

Since then, Ed has been office manager for an excavating company and Molly has worked for trust and investment firms. With their sons grown, they figured it was time to get back into baking.

“We realized a few years ago that the dream never really died,” Molly Foley said in April. “My husband doesn’t belong in an office. He’s too talented.”

The new Foley’s is in the space occupied previously by the Mousse Cafe & Bakeshop, next to Longfellow Books.
