PORTLAND — Reggae master and good vibe ambassador Michael Franti and Spearhead welcomed summer to Portland on Sunday with an inspiring, uplifting and all-around groove-filled set.
Playing a parking lot at Ocean Gateway, Franti and his band kicked off the summer concert season in style. The band played about 100 minutes, filling the evening air with dance grooves that kept people on their feet and moving.
It was a perfect night. The temperature was mild, the concert site overflowing with enthusiasm and Franti in a mood to please. He went on stage at 7:45 and barely let up the rest of the night. The audience stayed with him the whole time, dancing and singing along and waving arms high overhead.
