Thirty-five young adults participating in the Bike & Build program spent Monday working at a Habitat for Humanity site on South Street in Freeport.
Based in Philadelphia, Bike & Build encourages young people to travel the country by bike, helping to build affordable housing. The group of 18- to 26-year-olds, which includes three Mainers, had planned to leave this morning on a cross-country cycling trip that will end in Santa Barbara, Calif. Along the way, the riders plan to volunteer with 12 affordable-housing organizations.
