LEBANON — Authorities say a sheriff’s sergeant was hurt and two men charged after a two-vehicle collision led to a confrontation with family members of one of the drivers.

Wednesday’s accident in Lebanon occurred when a dump truck driven by 19-year-old John Lapierre was struck by a Toyota RAV-4 attempting to pass it, forcing the truck into a ditch.

Sgt. Roger Hicks of the York County Sheriff’s Department was investigating when Lapierre’s father, John Lapierre, Sr., 43, of Berwick, began challenging him over what happened.

Detective Bill Vachon says John Lapierre, Sr., was charged with assault on a police officer, obstructing government administration and failure to submit to arrest after allegedly shoving shoved Hicks.

WMTW-TV says Francis Lapierre, the grandfather of the driver, was charged with disorderly conduct.
