ANDOVER — Maine emergency workers have halted a search for two men who disappeared while swimming in a lake north of Andover but say they’ll resume Saturday morning.

Wardens say the two Boston-area men were swimming off a pontoon boat Friday in Lower Richardson Lake and disappeared. They say two other people were on the boat but didn’t go swimming.

Edie Smith from the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife says wardens looked for the men by air and by boat on rough waters until they suspended the search this evening. She says a dive team will begin searching around 7 a.m. Saturday.

Smith says the missing swimmers’ names are being withheld for now.
