FAIRFIELD – Griffin Py hit a two-run homer and doubled twice Friday to lead Portland to a 14-4 victory against Augusta in the Babe Ruth baseball 14-year-old state tournament.

The loss eliminated Augusta from the double-elimination tournament and kept Portland alive.

Mitchell Caron, Spencer Buck and Thomas Foster doubled for Augusta.

CENTRAL MAINE 7, PORTLAND 4: Matt Champney had three hits, including a double and a triple, to help Central Maine remain unbeaten in the state tournament at Fairfield.

Zach Mathieu was strong in relief for Central Maine after starting pitcher Dylan Hapworth left after two innings due to heat and arm soreness.

AUGUSTA 5, TRI-COUNTY 2: Mitchell Bonenfant struck out six with no walks to lead Augusta in the losers’ bracket of the state tournament at Fairfield.

Ben Lucas had a double, two singles, and scored twice for Augusta. Ray Mosca added an RBI single.

BABE RUTH 15-YEAR-OLD

MIDCOAST 11, SANFORD 2: Chandler Crans and Cody Graves each had three hits to help Midcoast eliminate Sanford in the state tournament at Westbrook.

Midcoast used a five-run fourth inning to take control.

Tyler Flahan and Erik Strickland had a pair of hits apiece for Sanford.

FRANKLIN COUNTY 7, TRI-COUNTY 1: Chad Luker had two RBI as Franklin County eliminated Tri-County in the state tournament at Westbrook.

Scott Hall pitched six strong innings for Franklin County, allowing one run driven in by Eric Stevens.

BABE RUTH 13-YEAR-OLD

COASTAL SOUTH 12, SOUTHERN YORK 2: Coastal South pitchers John Parker and Nick Thibault combined to one-hit Southern York in the state tournament at Harrison.

Thibault, Ethan Winglass and Elias Henze each had a pair of hits for Coastal South.

CENTRAL MAINE 12, AUBURN SUBURBAN 0: J.T. Nutting pitched a shutout and had an RBI to lead Central Maine in the state tournament at Harrison.

Nick Mayo had two RBI, and Dan Pooler added an RBI with three singles for Central Maine.

PORTLAND 12, SOUTHERN YORK 2: Dom Bernard struck out six and had a pair of hits to help Portland eliminate Southern York from the state tournament at Harrison.

Matt Drouin drove in two, and had a single and a double for Portland. Pat Viola added a pair of hits.

AUBURN 12, TRI-COUNTY NORTH 5: Brandon Knapp had three RBI on two singles and a triple to help Auburn stay alive in the state tournament at Harrison.

Knapp was also the winning pitcher. Llwellyn Jensen had three singles, and Brandon Varney added a single and double.

Gavin Arsenault had three RBI for Tri-County North.

JUNIOR LEGION

YARMOUTH 10, FALMOUTH 0: Nick Lainey pitched a one-hitter with no walks as Yarmouth (12-6) shut out visiting Falmouth (1-17).

Tom Sullivan drove in two runs with a single and a sacrifice fly. Mark Brown added an RBI triple.

TWILIGHT LEAGUE

RON BEAULIEU & CO. 10, AERO HEATING & VENTILATING 2: Nate Leeman, John Dahms and David Nieves each knocked in two runs to lift Ron Beaulieu & Co. at Standish.

Ben Goodall had an RBI single for Aero Heating & Ventilating.

LENDERS NETWORK 9, MAINE-LY MOBILE 5: Donnie Morse hit a two-run homer as Lenders Network won at Portland.

Roberto Vallenti had three RBI and Xander Rich drove in two for Lenders Network.

Alex Smith had a three-run homer for Maine-ly Mobile.

RON BEAULIEU & CO. 1, PATRIOT INSURANCE 0: David Longley struck out 12 for Ron Beaulieu & Co. at Standish.
