Mainers held to three hits by Navigators, suffer shutout to fall to .500 on the season

Junior Mendez pitched five shutout innings as the North Shore Navigators defeated the Sanford Mainers 7-0 Tuesday in a New England Collegiate Baseball League game at Lynn, Mass.

Dario Pizzano had two doubles, scored twice and drove in a run for the Navigators (20-18).

Jack Lupo, Pat Devlin and Paul Kronenfeld each had one hit for the Mainers (18-18).

JUNIOR LEGION: Visiting Cumberland (6-11) scored four runs in the seventh inning for a 9-7 win over Freeport Medical Center (6-12) in a play-in tournament game.

Shane Delbianco, Will Bryant, Mike McDevitt, Alex McAdoo and Miles Shields each had two hits for Cumberland.

Connor Dietrich, Reilly Kons and Luke Lamagna had two hits for Freeport MC.

Chandler Todd hit an RBI triple to spark a four-run fourth inning and First Title of Maine (10-9) held off All Sports Printing (3-16) for a 6-3 win at Portland.
