UNITY — Police are responding to a reported armed robbery at the Down East Federal Credit Union at 58 School St.

The robbery was reported at about 2:20 p.m. today. A suspect was described as a white male in his 20s, thin, about 5-feet, 6-inches tall, wearing a white hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, tennis shoes, sunglasses and possibly gloves, according to an all-points bulletin issued by the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office.

The man was last seen fleeing the credit union on foot, heading east on School Street/ Route 130 toward the Unity Raceway, according to the bulletin.

It was not immediately known what kind of weapon was involved, whether anyone was injured or if the suspect made off with any money. Officers are currently searching the area, according to police dispatches.
