ACADIA NATIONAL PARK — Officials say a New Jersey woman was injured when the bicycle she was riding went over a cliff at Acadia National Park and she fell 20 feet.

A park ranger says it took more than an hour to bring 58-year-old Mary-Pat Swenson of Highland Lakes, N.J., back to the carriage road she had been riding on at about 2:30 p.m. Thursday. She lost control after the chain on her bike came off the sprocket.

Park Ranger Chris Wiebusch tells the Bangor Daily News Swenson suffered possible head and neck injuries, but her condition did not appear to be life threatening.

The technical rescue involved park rangers, Mount Desert emergency medical personnel and search and rescue volunteers.
