ARUNDEL— Maine State Police are searching for a motorist who led troopers on a chase before fleeing his vehicle on foot.

The incident began about 3 a.m. Wednesday on the Maine Turnpike in Saco, when a trooper pulled over a pickup. The driver sped off, eventually getting off in Arundel.

Police eventually found the vehicle abandoned on Limerick Road, but the driver had escaped.

WMTW-TV says a search dog joined in the search, to no avail.
