KENNEBUNK — Officer Joshua Morneau has been allowed to return to work because an internal investigation has found no violation of department policy in connection with an off-duty incident.

Morenau had been placed on paid administrative leave pending an investigation into an incident that took place on July 20.  He was taken off administrative leave Wednesday.

The department would not say what the incident was, but the date coincides with an altercation between Morneau and his girlfriend’s ex-husband at a Saco health center.

Morneau brought the incident to the department’s attention himself.

The department has not yet completed a separate review of Morneau’s fatal shooting of a woman in March during domestic dispute call. The Attorney General’s Office earlier this month found that Morneau was legally justified in using deadly force against 39-year-old Katherine Paulson when she advanced toward him with a knife.
