LIMINGTON — A shed was destroyed, but a nearby home spared from damage following a late afternoon lightning strike that started a fire today in the town of Limington.

A dispatcher for the Limington Fire Department said the lightning hit a shed at 546 Ossippee Trail around 5:30 p.m. today.

No one was injured and firefighters were able to extinguish the fire before it could spread to a nearby home.

Last week, lightning struck a utility pole in Limington.
