DEXTER — A woman and her two children who were gunned down in a domestic violence homicide in Dexter are gone but not forgotten.
More than 700 people participated in the Amy, Coty, Monica Memorial Race and Walk Sunday to raise awareness for domestic abuse. Amy Lake was a longtime kindergarten teacher in Dexter. She was killed along her kids, 12-year-old Monica and 13-year-old Coty, in June.
The event was organized by a teacher at Ridge View Community School who was a close friend of Amy Lake. Kelly Gay tells the Bangor Daily News that more than $10,000 was raised.
Half of the proceeds will be donated to a scholarship fund and half will go to an organization working to end domestic violence.
