BATH — Police say a Waldoboro man who road 45 miles atop a Maine Eastern Railroad train told them he climbed onto the train while drinking and fell asleep.

Bath Police Lt. Stan Cielinski said today that the 22-year-old man woke up at some point between Rockland and Bath and decided to stay put because it was unsafe to move.

Bath police stopped the train late Saturday morning after a Woolwich resident reported seeing a man on the train.

The Times Record says police have not yet charged the man with a crime, and Cielinski said they will not release his name unless they do so.
