AUGUSTA — A lone robber held up Bangor Savings Bank at 77 Capitol St. about 10:15 a.m. today and apparently fled on foot.

The bank is across the street from the Burton M. Cross State Office Building and from the Blaine House, the governor’s home.

No injuries were reported and the bank is closed while Augusta and Maine State Police investigate.

Dogs were being used to track the suspect.

Augusta Police Major Jared Mills described the suspect as a bald white male who was wearing a gray T-shirt and thick dark sunglasses.

The suspect is described as between 5’6″ and 5’7″, with a medium build, in his mid-30s

No weapon was shown, police said.

Mills said the robber came into the bank and demanded money and left with an undisclosed amount.

Anyone who may have seen anything connected to the robbery is asked to call Augusta Police at 626-2370.
