ANCHORAGE, Alaska — A prosecutor says a mother seeking sensational footage to get on the “Dr. Phil” show punished her 7-year-old adopted son by putting hot sauce in his mouth.
Prosecutor Cynthia Franklin said Monday that 33-year-old Jessica Beagley recorded the punishment for a show segment titled “Mommy Confessions.” The woman faces misdemeanor child abuse charges.
But Beagley’s attorney says she made the video and went on the show because she was desperate to find help for her son, who was adopted from a Russian orphanage and has psychological problems.
