Safety Training, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., course designed for roofing and residential contractors to learn about protection from falls, injury prevention and safety equipment. The program is offered by the Maine Department of Labor SafetyWorks! program and the schedule is:

• Monday at Presque Isle Career Center

• Tuesday at Bangor Career Center

• Wednesday at Portland Career Center

• Thursday at SafetyWorks! Training Institute, Fairfield.

Business After Hours, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., DownEast Pride Alliance public networking forum for the local gay and gay-friendly business community at Walter’s, 2 Portland Square, Portland. 

“Effective Networking,” 6 p.m., an event for women with guest speaker Caroline Feeney, eastern territorial vice president for agency distribution at Prudential Insurance. The program will be held at the Regency Hotel and Spa, 20 Milk St., Portland. The event is free but reservations are required.
