The Downeaster will offer limited bus service on Monday morning and hopes to restore full train service by Monday afternoon.

Bus transportation will be available between the Portland Transportation Center, Wells Transportation Center and North Station in Boston. It also will be available between Exteter, N.H., and Boston’s North Station. There will be no service at Old Orchard Beach and Saco in Maine, or at Dover or Durham, N.H.

“We are hopeful that Amtrak Downeaster trains will be able to operate on a full schedule on Monday afternoon,” said Patricia Quinn, executive director of the Northern New England Passenger Rail Authority in Portland.

Service cannot be fully restored until the storm has passed and the tracks inspected and cleared for operation.
