Charges filed after crash damages pontoon boat

The Maine Warden Service says a 22-year-old man is facing charges after crashing his personal watercraft into a boat on a northern Maine lake, allegedly while under the influence of alcohol.

Wardens said Travis Toussaint of Eagle Lake struck a pontoon boat that was tied to a dock at a campground on Eagle Lake at 12:30 a.m. Saturday. He was hospitalized with a knee injury and a gash to his forehead.

Officials said excessive speed, alcohol and limited visibility were contributing factors in the crash. Toussaint was charged with operating a watercraft while under the influence and operating a watercraft between sunset and sunrise.
