PORTLAND — The United Way of Greater Portland is collecting food donations today until 2 p.m. at One Canal Plaza on Middle Street to restock the shelves of Cumberland County food pantries.

Pantries said they need healthy snacks for children, pasta, rice, canned vegetables and fruit, spaghetti sauce, canned meat and fish, cooking oil and pancake mixes.

The collection kicks off the United Way’s annual campaign.
