UPDATE: 4:30 p.m. Sunday

YARMOUTH — Police identified Chad Meier, 36, of Yarmouth as the victim of a single-vehicle fatal crash that occurred Saturday afternoon on East Main Street.

Meier was driving a 1991 Nissan pickup truck that left the road, hit a stump and rolled over, police said. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Police said Meier had been wearing a seatbelt.

YARMOUTH — One person was killed in a single-vehicle crash at 780 East Main St. at 4:43 p.m. today, police confirmed.

Yarmouth Communications Center Dispatcher Debby Fry said the road was closed after the accident but has been reopened. Fry declined to provide further details, but said the department will issue a press release about the incident Sunday.

WGME-TV reported that a truck was very badly damaged in the crash, but there was no word as to how many passengers were in the truck.

A state police reconstruction team was called to assist Yarmouth Police in the investigation, WGME-TV reported.
