• The Biddeford Alumni and Italian Heritage Center bands will combine members for a pair of 9/11 tribute concerts. They will perform at 7 p.m. Saturday at First Parish Congregational Church, 12 Beech St., Saco; and at 4 p.m. Sept. 11 at the Freeport Performing Arts Center, 30 Holbrook St.

The concerts will pay tribute and honor all first responders and military personnel, active and retired, as well as their families.

The two bands have performed joint concerts in commemoration of 9/11 since 2002. The bands will perform a variety of music, including patriotic songs, marches, Broadway tunes and swing and big band music.

Admission is free, with donations accepted at the door. The Saco concert will be preceded by a bean supper at the church at 4:30 p.m.

The Freeport concert concludes a weekend-long community commemoration. On Sept. 11, Freeport will host a parade from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., followed by a dedication at the newly-built 9/11 memorial that features structural steel from the World Trade Center.
