YORK — A familiar furry face is bidding Maine visitors farewell for the season at the turnpike’s southern gate.

Miles the Moose will be at the York Toll Plaza beginning at 11 a.m. today to say so-long to departing tourists.

Starting an hour earlier, turnpike toll collectors will begin handing out 15,000 refrigerator magnets to motorists.

The pennant-shaped magnets depict the state’s natural beauty as well as some traditional Maine activities such as boating, snowmobiling and cross-country skiing.
