WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama says he’s sending his jobs bill to Congress today and lawmakers should pass it immediately with no games, politics or delays.

The bill Obama unveiled in a speech to Congress last week aims to create thousands of jobs through a blend of tax cuts, spending on public works projects and aid to state and local governments.

The White House is sending the bill to Capitol Hill later in the day. Then on Tuesday and Wednesday, Obama plans to visit Ohio and North Carolina to rally the public to pressure lawmakers to pass it.

Obama appeared in the Rose Garden surrounded by teachers, police officers and firefighters – people the White House says would benefit from the bill.
