WISCASSET — A fire this morning in Wiscasset destroyed a vacant building that had once operated as a pizza shop.
Lt. T.J. Merry said the former Tony’s Pizzeria on Route 1 was engulfed in flames and smoke by the time firefighters arrived at the scene. Tony’s Pizzeria has been vacant since it closed about two years ago, Merry said.
Merry said eight fire departments sent crews and equipment to the fire, which was reported at 9:15 a.m. No one was injured.
The cause of the blaze remains under investigation by the State Fire Marshall’s Office.
