PORTLAND — An Obama administration official who formerly headed Maine’s human services department will speak at a conference in Portland on feeding the hungry.

Kevin Concannon, undersecretary for food, nutrition and consumer services in the Department of Agriculture, will speak tomorrow, after today’s start of the Eastern Regional Conference of Feeding America.

Good Shepherd Food Bank is hosting the annual conference, which will focus on the latest advancements in hunger relief.

The government says one in six Americans is faced with hunger each day, including 16 million children. In Maine, nearly one in six Maine households struggled with hunger between 2008 and 2010.
