JACKSON, N.H. — A Maine woman who got lost on a New Hampshire mountain trail was able to use her cell phone to call for help.

Search crews were able to find 46-year-old Susan Wiswell of Kittery, Maine, on Thursday, a day after she called to say she went off the Isolation Trail in Sargent’s Purchase and got lost. Wiswell, an experienced hiker, was in good condition when she was found and able to hike out on her own.

New Hampshire Fish and Game Sgt. Wayne Saunders says there’s a reason the area is named “Isolation” — it’s remote, with a lot of surrounding mountains in the 3,000- and 4,000-foot range.

Saunders advised that hikers not go it alone.
