WALDOBORO — A Waldoboro high school has lifted its ban on students wearing bracelets that drew attention to breast cancer by using the word “boobies.”
On Friday Medomak High School called off the ban after several students had been suspended for refusing to take off the bracelets that say “I (heart) boobies.”
Superintendent Susan Pratt lifted the ban because officials didn’t want to make a bigger deal out of the issue than it is.
School rule say students can’t wear anything with sexual connotations, but Pratt says the students weren’t suspended for wearing the bracelets; they were suspended for not taking them off when asked.
The Bangor Daily News says all students who were suspended for bracelet-related reasons will have their suspensions erased from their school records.
