AUGUSTA — A 91-year-old World War II veteran is getting some long-awaited service medals.

Sen. Susan Collins says she and Maj. Gen. Bill Libby of the Maine National Guard will present Bernard Jackson, of Rockland, with more than half a dozen medals at a ceremony today at Camp Keyes in Augusta. The medals include the American Campaign Medal, the WWII Victory Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal.

Jackson enlisted in the Army in 1942 and served during the campaign in the southern Philippine Islands. He was honorably discharged in 1945.
