Awards

The American Association of University Women has awarded a 2011-12 American Fellowship to Jennifer Smith, Ph.D., of Cushing. Smith is a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology and the Center for Society and Genetics at the University of California Los Angeles. She is a graduate of Georges Valley High School, Thomaston, and Colby College, Waterville.

Stonehill College, Easton, Mass.: Laura Hayes of Rockport has been inducted into the Beta Alpha Psi National Honor Society for accounting and financial information students and professionals.

University of Maine, Orono: Joshua Komusin of South Berwick was one of 150 college students selected to attend Apple Inc.’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference in San Francisco. The award included a $2,000 scholarship and was based on his application, which included an app design.

Western New England University, Springfield, Mass.: Kathryn Campbell of Kennebunkport was inducted into the college’s chapter of the Alpha Lambda Delta national honor society.
