Representatives of Artspace, a nonprofit developer of working and living space for artists, and the Creative Portland Corp. toured buildings in Portland’s India Street neighborhood Thursday.

The buildings, along with several others in the city, are potential sites for an Artspace project.

The buildings in the India Street neighborhood are owned by S. Donald Sussman, a billionaire hedge fund manager who is interested in redeveloping the area.

Other potential locations are the St. Lawrence Arts Center on Munjoy Hill and the former public works garage on Portland Street.

Artspace officials are expected to issue a report in several months to indicate whether they are interested in pursuing a project in Portland.
