PORTLAND – Several roads in Portland and neighboring towns to the north will be affected by the 20th running of the Maine Marathon and Half Marathon on Sunday morning.
The race will begin and end near the intersection of Baxter Boulevard and Preble Street, near Back Cove. Only official race vehicles will be allowed on the boulevard between Preble Street and Forest Avenue from 5 a.m. until about 2 p.m.
Other roads that will be closed to non-local traffic are Route 88 in Falmouth from Route 1 to Depot Road, from 8 to 9:30 a.m.; Depot Road, from 8 to 9:30; the intersection of Johnson Road and Route 88 in Falmouth, from 8 a.m. to noon; and Gilman Road in Yarmouth from Route 88 to Princes Point Road, from 9 a.m. to noon.
Race organizers ask that spectators not park on Route 88 at any point on the course because runners will be going in both directions.
