LEWISTON – Trevor Smith threw for two touchdowns and ran for another to lead Bates to a 28-9 victory over Tufts in a college football game Saturday.

Smith threw for 122 yards and rushed for 84 yards for the Bobcats (1-1). Patrick George ran for 84 yards and a touchdown and Ryan Curit caught eight passes for 50 yards and a touchdown.

Johnny Lindquist threw for 258 yards for the Jumbos (0-2), but was sacked six times.

MIDDLEBURY 41, COLBY 15: McCallum Foote was 28 of 44 for 380 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Panthers (1-1) past the visiting Mules (0-2).

Linebacker Mike Hyatt had 18 tackles and a fumble recovery for Colby. Nick Kmetz threw for 170 yards and a touchdown and Luke Duncklee ran for 73 yards and a score.

AMHERST 20, BOWDOIN 3: Eric Bunker rushed for 134 yards and a touchdown, leading the Jeffs (2-0) past the Polar Bears (0-2) at Amherst, Mass.

Jimmy Garvey gave Bowdoin the lead with a 20-yard field goal in the second period, but Amherst scored 59 seconds before halftime on Bunker’s 2-yard run.

WORCESTER STATE 39, MAINE MARITIME 22: Tony Tokarz threw for three touchdowns and ran for two to lead the Lancers (5-0) past the Mariners (3-1) at Worcester, Mass.

Maine Maritime’s Matthew Rende scored on a 28-yard run three minutes into the game, but Worcester State put up 32 unanswered points before Rende scored again late in the third quarter.

BECKER 20, HUSSON 14: Kyle Gregg scored on a 3-yard run in overtime to lift the Hawks (1-4) over the Eagles (0-3) at Bangor.

Ryan Dorson had a 1-yard touchdown run and Kash Keezer hit Imadhi Zagon with a 39-yard touchdown pass for Husson.

WAKE FOREST 27, BOSTON COLLEGE 19: Tanner Price threw a 47-yard TD pass to Chris Givens as Wake Forest (3-1, 2-0 ACC) opened a 15-point lead before holding off Boston College (1-4, 0-2) at Boston.

(1) LSU 35, KENTUCKY 7: Quarterback Jordan Jefferson scored on his first play back from suspension and the Tigers (5-0, 2-0 SEC) rolled over Kentucky (2-3, 0-2) at Baton Rouge, La.
