PORTLAND — The price-watching website MaineGasPrices.com says the average retail gasoline price in Maine has fallen 6.2 cents per gallon in the past week to $3.53.

The website says Sunday’s average price was 19.2 cents per gallon lower than it was a month ago — but still 81 cents per gallon higher than the same day one year ago.

Maine’s average compares with the national figure, which has fallen 5.9 cents per gallon in the last week to $3.46.

Price analyst Patrick DeHaan says average gasoline prices are at their lowest since early March. While prices are higher than they were a year ago, he expects the upcoming weeks will see downward pressure on oil and gasoline prices.
