PORTLAND — Maine state police have arrested the computer network administrator for the Deer Isle and Stonington school system for possession of child pornography.

Sgt. Glenn Lang of the State Police Computer Crime Unit said today that detectives moved immediately after learning that an Internet protocol address associated with websites that distribute child pornography led to someone employed by the school system.

Lang says 30-year-old Joseph Audette of Surry was arrested Monday after a search of his computers found child pornography. He says there’s no evidence at this point that local children are involved.

Audette was released from jail with restrictions that he have no contact with children under the age of 18. There was no telephone listing for him in Surry, and it was unclear if he had a lawyer.
