BIDDEFORD — Biddeford Housing Authority has another affordable housing option for a first-time homebuyer or moderate income family.

The house was donated to the authority by Southern Maine Medical Center. It was moved early Sunday morning from the hospital’s campus on Route 111 to land on Newtown Road. The land was previously purchased by the authority through a foreclosure and the house is valued at $110,000.

“Our master plan for the SMMC campus on Route 111 called for removing the house, so donating the building to the Biddeford Housing Authority is a win-win,” stated Edward McGeachey, the hospital’s president and CEO.

Guy Gagnon, executive director of Biddeford Housing Authority, said the house will likely be listed below market price after the house is set up on the property and improvements made. The listing price has not been determined.
