DOVER-FOXCROFT — Maine police say a young man from Dover-Foxcroft has died after he crashed his car while returning home from a high school football game.

Police Chief Dennis Dyer said 18-year-old Christopher Bartlett died Monday afternoon at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor.

Dyer told the Bangor Daily News that Bartlett and a 17-year-old female companion were returning home from the Bangor area early Saturday morning when he crashed head-on into a tree on Route 15 in Dover-Foxcroft.

Dyer said he thinks Bartlett fell asleep at the wheel. He said the passenger was also taken to EMMC, but her injuries were not life-threatening.
